HomeMy WebLinkAbout1.02 Project description, .. YALERUS () Narrative for Project
Project Narrative The enclosed Limited Impact Review (UR) application is intended to facilitate permitting of proposed land uses according to the Garfield County Unified Land Use Resolution
(January 2009) on fee surface lands. The proposed uses are interrelated and in close proximity to each other. They are as follows: I) Compressor Station 2) Storage: Supplies, Machinery,
Equipment or Products Valerus Compression Services LP (Valerus) is proposing to construct and operate as-unit natural gas compressor station for gathering natural gas located in southwestern
Garfield County, Colorado. The project purpose is to improve the flow of gas from an existing natural gas field to nearby transmission lines. Pipeline Connections to nearby pipelines
have not been determined. The proposed compressor station would have a SO mmcf/d (million cubic foot per day) capacity. The proposed project consists of the compressor site construction.
The proposed project area is on property owned by BJ.M., L TO. The proposed site is located in Township 6 South, Range 92 West, SW y,. Section 30 (see Figure I). An existing 400 foot
access road on Parcel I provides access to the project area from CR 333, and has an existing driveway permit (Antero permit GRB-07-0-SI). A backhoe would be stored onsite. Compressor
Station The compressor station project will consist of five compressor units with coolers, specifically: I. Five (S) x Waukesha L7044GSI gas driven compressor packages • Maximum rated
speed .................... .. .. ...... .................... 1,200 rpm • Maximum rated power ............ .. .. ....... ........................... 1,680 bhp • Maximum allowable exhaust

fan power ....... .... ........ ... ..... ..... ......... .................. 71.83 hp • Airflow ........................................................................... 217,446 scfm
The compressors and coolers would be individually enclosed in acoustical buildings (see plot plan in Figures section). Each building would be about 32'3" by 28'3" with 18' Eave height.
Noise control equipment includes exhaust silencer packages, cooler si lencer packages, sound absorbing interior walls, and sound-attenuated building ventilation openings. Buildings would
be equipped with fan-forced acoustical building ventilation packages. fRO Resouu8s Corpora/ion

totaling 5.19 acres. Of this area, only about 1.62 acres would be affected by the grading and drainage plan, including about 0.25 acres of temporary disturbance. fRO Reiourres (orporation

~-,..--5 Valerus Hunter Mesa Compressor Station The compression units and the dehydrator will be sited mostly on Parcel 2. Limited disturbance to Parcel 3 would occur from a small amount
of site grading. Parcel I is mostly occupied by the existing pig launcher/slug catcher unit, tanks, and secondary containment. The Compressor station would share the existing access
with the existing Antero facilities at the site. The Compressor station would be equipped with safety features, including the following: • flammable gas sensors • emergency shut-down
system • Fire eyes • automatically activated ventilation fans • automatic gas input/outlet shutdown • manual reset Motor Control Center, MaintenancelDehydrating Station There is also
a proposed small MCC and gas dehydrator proposed on site, in addition to a meter. The MCC will consist ofa 10 by 20 foot structure, IS foot high mini mobile/prefab building that will
be used mainly during daylight hours to maintain site operations. An electrical power line would be installed to provide power to the station and would be connected to an existing electrical
line on the site. Portable toilet facilities would be provided on site. A supply of lube oil, coolant, and used oil in secondary containment would be stored next to compressor #4 (see
Plot Plan in Figures tab). A piperack, coalescing filter, glycol regenerating stations, glycol contactors, and an inlet separator would be required and are also shown on the Plot plan.
A fence would enclose the compressor station, appurtenant facilities, and the adjoining existing slug catcher/pig launcher and associated storage tanks. Because the two facilities will
share an access road, enclosing both facilities in a single perimeter fence is most logical. The perimeter security fence for the project will be a 7 foot tall chain link fence with
I foot of3 strand barb wire at the top. This fence will have a 24 foot wide double drive gate at the entrance and will have 48" wide personnel emergency egress gates at certain locations.
The fence and all gate locations are shown on the Plot Plan. ( ( fRO Resources (olpofolfon
