Knox Juniper Hills Private Landing Strip OAProject No. 012 -1776 760 Horizon Drive, Suite 102 1 Grand Junction, CO 81506 ' TEL 970.263.7800 1 FAX 970.263.7456 O‘OLSSON ASSOCIATES Juniper Hills Private Aircraft Landing Strip Basic Traffic Analysis INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVE This Basic Traffic Analysis summarizes findings of a traffic impact analysis performed for the Juniper Hills private air strip located approximately 6 miles southwest of the Town of Parachute, Colorado. EXISTING NETWORK The site is accessed from a private road off of CR 306 (Wallace Creek Road). According to the Garfield County 2011 HUFT Road Inventory Report, CR 306 is classified as a local road. This road is also designated as a preferred haul route. It is constructed of asphalt bituminous pavement and is classified in the report as being in good condition. The road has a posted speed limit of 25 mph. According to the most recent available peak hour traffic count (2002), the estimated average daily trips (ADT) for CR 306 is 159 vehicles per day (vpd). The existing private road that provides access from CR 306 to the site is approximately one -half mile long and varies in width from approximately 16 to 40 feet. It is constructed with a compacted gravel surface. This private road has a posted speed limit of 15 mph and is used for access to at least two existing homes and is also used as an access road for natural gas development in the general area. The applicant has obtained surface maintenance agreements with two natural gas operators that address the use and maintenance of this private road. This road contains some grades but is manageable for ordinary passenger vehicles and provides adequate and safe access to the proposed site. TRIP GENERATION /DISTRIBUTION Trip generation is generally determined using rates found in the ITE Trip Generation manual. Rates from this publication are applied to values related to the size of the proposed site to estimate the trips expected to enter and exit the site. In this case, no rates are provided for facilities such as this.
