Basic Traffic Analysis
INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVE
This Basic Traffic Analysis summarizes findings of a traffic impact analysis performed for the
Juniper Hills private air strip located approximately 6 miles southwest of the Town of Parachute,
Colorado.
EXISTING NETWORK
The site is accessed from a private road off of CR 306 (Wallace Creek Road). According to the
Garfield County 2011 HUFT Road Inventory Report, CR 306 is classified as a local road. This
road is also designated as a preferred haul route. It is constructed of asphalt bituminous
pavement and is classified in the report as being in good condition. The road has a posted
speed limit of 25 mph. According to the most recent available peak hour traffic count (2002),
the estimated average daily trips (ADT) for CR 306 is 159 vehicles per day (vpd).
The existing private road that provides access from CR 306 to the site is approximately one -half
mile long and varies in width from approximately 16 to 40 feet. It is constructed with a
compacted gravel surface. This private road has a posted speed limit of 15 mph and is used for
access to at least two existing homes and is also used as an access road for natural gas
development in the general area. The applicant has obtained surface maintenance agreements
with two natural gas operators that address the use and maintenance of this private road. This
road contains some grades but is manageable for ordinary passenger vehicles and provides
adequate and safe access to the proposed site.
TRIP GENERATION /DISTRIBUTION
