Team,
On January 24, 2014 Oddo Engineering's personnel was present at the Mana site to conduct a
general walk through and final framing inspection of the as -built conditions verifying that the
framing complies with the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13 Revision". Our
observation was limited to areas with easy access and not all areas were verified. The overall
framing appears to be per the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13 Revision" with
the following exceptions which need be addressed prior to final framing signoff:
1. Verify that all blocking and continuous rims have 8d @ 6" o.c toe nailing to the top plate,
wood beam, and steel beam 2x nailers. Indicate that the nails have been installed where
required with a paint mark or some sort of indicator for final sign off.
2. It is our understanding that a previous framing inspection by the county building official
approved the roof plywood 8d C 6" o.c. boundary nailing to the blocking and/or framing
below.
3. Verify that all TJI roof rafters have one 8d nail each side of TJI per manufacturer
specifications.
4. Verify the (2) Simpson A35 clips are installed at all corner rim conditions.
5. Install the (2) Simpson A35 clips at the guest wing corridor along grid "F".
6. The existing rafter wedge shims along grid "D.8" between grids "3.5 to 5.5" shall be
removed. Install new minimum solid 3" x 2 1/4" wood shims at each joist and attach to
top plate at each rafter with one 8d nail each side of TJI per manufacturer specifications.
Install one A35 clip with 1 'L" long nails attached to existing blocking where the blocking
does not have direct bearing and is not attached with adequate boundary nails to the top
plate.
7. The existing holes for the electrical wire in the 9 '/" ML rafters at grid "F.5" between
grids "7.4 & 7.6" are acceptable.

8. The existing holes in the (3) 14" ML continuous beam along grid "27.5" between grids
"C.5 & C.8" are located within the middle 1/3 of span and depth of the bean. The
smaller holes are 7/8" and appear to have a minimum spacing in each direction of 4x the
hole diameter. The larger hole is approximately 2" in diameter. The holes are
acceptable.
9. No CMU is required along the master bedroom wall at grid "D". Oddo Engineering will
revise detail 20/S4.0 will revise to state CMU is optional. Revised detail to follow at a
later date.
10. Oddo Engineering will revise detail 4/S4.0 to a 12" deep x 6" wide rolled edge. Revised
detail to follow at a later date.
11. Oddo Engineering will revise detail 15/S4.0 for revised fireplace design. Details to
follow at a later date.
In general, the framing appears to be per the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13
Revision" and requires the above noted areas to be addressed. Please let me know if you have
any additional questions or comments.
Best Regards,
Paul Stoffel, P.E., Oddo Engineering
