FIELD REPORT #5 To: Jim Zielinski, Structural Associates Job: Mana Inyanga Ranch, Glenwood Springs, Colorado Project No.: 1300-20 Date: January 24, 2014 Location: Job site Present: Jim Zielinski, Structural Associates Eric, Structural Associates Bob Oddo, P.E., Oddo Engineering Paul Stoffel, P.E., Oddo Engineering oddo A engineering Team, On January 24, 2014 Oddo Engineering's personnel was present at the Mana site to conduct a general walk through and final framing inspection of the as -built conditions verifying that the framing complies with the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13 Revision". Our observation was limited to areas with easy access and not all areas were verified. The overall framing appears to be per the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13 Revision" with the following exceptions which need be addressed prior to final framing signoff: 1. Verify that all blocking and continuous rims have 8d @ 6" o.c toe nailing to the top plate, wood beam, and steel beam 2x nailers. Indicate that the nails have been installed where required with a paint mark or some sort of indicator for final sign off. 2. It is our understanding that a previous framing inspection by the county building official approved the roof plywood 8d C 6" o.c. boundary nailing to the blocking and/or framing below. 3. Verify that all TJI roof rafters have one 8d nail each side of TJI per manufacturer specifications. 4. Verify the (2) Simpson A35 clips are installed at all corner rim conditions. 5. Install the (2) Simpson A35 clips at the guest wing corridor along grid "F". 6. The existing rafter wedge shims along grid "D.8" between grids "3.5 to 5.5" shall be removed. Install new minimum solid 3" x 2 1/4" wood shims at each joist and attach to top plate at each rafter with one 8d nail each side of TJI per manufacturer specifications. Install one A35 clip with 1 'L" long nails attached to existing blocking where the blocking does not have direct bearing and is not attached with adequate boundary nails to the top plate. 7. The existing holes for the electrical wire in the 9 '/" ML rafters at grid "F.5" between grids "7.4 & 7.6" are acceptable. 713 Cooper Avenue ♦ Suite 200 ♦ Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 (970) 945-1006 ♦ Fax (970) 945-2966 ♦ E -Mail 8. The existing holes in the (3) 14" ML continuous beam along grid "27.5" between grids "C.5 & C.8" are located within the middle 1/3 of span and depth of the bean. The smaller holes are 7/8" and appear to have a minimum spacing in each direction of 4x the hole diameter. The larger hole is approximately 2" in diameter. The holes are acceptable. 9. No CMU is required along the master bedroom wall at grid "D". Oddo Engineering will revise detail 20/S4.0 will revise to state CMU is optional. Revised detail to follow at a later date. 10. Oddo Engineering will revise detail 4/S4.0 to a 12" deep x 6" wide rolled edge. Revised detail to follow at a later date. 11. Oddo Engineering will revise detail 15/S4.0 for revised fireplace design. Details to follow at a later date. In general, the framing appears to be per the latest Oddo Engineering drawings dated "11-27-13 Revision" and requires the above noted areas to be addressed.
