Mr. Wyatt Popp, P.E., of Olsson Associates visited the site on January 15, 2014 to gather pertinent information for the evaluation. Olsson Associates was provided signed and sealed plans of the generator building by Enercon Engineering, Inc. of East Peoria, Illinois, dated 9/28/11 (Drawing No. 46234). The plans were approved by the State of Colorado Division of Housing (Approval No. 006238), subject to field inspection. The 10'x31' modular building is constructed of steel materials and sets on two skids covering a footprint of 10'x24`. The total weight of the modular building is 31,000 pounds. Loadings to the permanent foundation are indicated on Page 8 of 10 of the Enercon Engineering plans, The permanent foundation for the building is a 4 -inch thick concrete slab measuring 15'-11" by 28'- 0". The concrete slab sets on well compacted soil that could be classified as Silty -Clay (ML). The concrete slab was observed to be in very good condition with no cracks. Each skid was solidly anchored to the concrete with four 3/4 -inch anchors, Based on the Toads provided by Enercon Engineering and conservatively using a 45 -degree splay through the 4 -inch thick concrete slab, the actual bearing pressure on the soil is 908 pounds/square foot. No geotechnical investigation to determine the allowable soil pressure of the site was conducted. Based on the type of soil classification, the allowable soil bearing is 1,500 201 East 2nd Street P.O. Our calculations found the anchors to be more than adequate to resist lateral and uplift forces indicated on the Enercon Engineering plans. Based on our observations and our structural analysis, Olsson Associates herby certifies that the permanent foundation provided for the generator building is structurally adequate. A Google Map and photos of the site are attached with this report. Should you have any question or need additional information, please feel free to contact Wyatt Popp or me. Sincerely, Michael D.
