The walls are to parallel Highway 6 & 24, and to be located on your property. You have constructed the lower wall, and plan construction of three more. At your request, we have prepared a design for the remaining walls, which is based on lateral earth pressures found in the soils report by HP Geotech, dated August 21, 2002, that addressed the new construction for the duplexes you have constructed to replace the structures destroyed by the Coal Seam Fire of 2002. The attached sketch, Sheet 1 of 1, indicates the minimum typical section that needs to be constructed. Additionally, this design addresses only the MSE walls acting as retaining walls; we have done no analysis to determine overall slope stability. Should you wish to verify slope stability is not a potential hazard, additional soils testing and analysis will be required, which we recommend you contact the original geotechnical engineer for your construction (HP Geotech). Please note the following with regard to the design we prepared: 1. We have not located the walls on your site; nor have we performed any topographical survey or grading design. You are responsible to coordinate the design section with actual site conditions, maintaining the maximum wall heights and minimum geogrid lengths and spacing, and ensure all construction occurs within your property lines or easements you have approval for. 2. We have not coordinated the walls with any utilities; you must coordinate with any and all utilities that may be in proximity of your proposed construction. If you have any questions, please call me at 945-1004. Sincerely, I0 William B.
