SPECIFICATIONS FOR SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT VAN WHY LIGHT INDUSTRIAL PARK The Contractor shall furnish to the project site (eight miles south of Glenwood Springs, Colorado) one complete package sewage treatment plant and lift station with the capacity to treat 1250 gallons per day of sewage flow from a light industrial park and family residences. The package sewage treatment plant and lift station shall contain the following items and characteristics: 1. Tank: The tank which contains the clarifier rag removal, aeration compartment shall be constructed of (a) 12 gage steel or larger, painted with two coats of standard Quigley III asphalt paint or equal inside and outside, or (b) 4" thick or greater concrete tank with any interior metal baffles, pipes or dividing walls being painted with two coats of Standard Quigley III asphalt paint or equal. v (c) Interior baffles or dividing walls may be constructed of securely connected fiber glass panels. 2. Ra Removal: The package sewage treatment plant shall con-- ''" tarn a trash removal device for removing trash before the sewage flow enters the aeration compartment. The screen or removal device shall contain holes no larger than one (1) inch in diameter. This compartment shall be accessible from the surface of the ground twenty-four (24) inches above the top of the tank. The trash removal device shall be provided for easy removal of rags to the surface of the ground. The access shall be covered with a cover which is provided with a means of being locked closed. None of the volume contained upstream from the trash removal device shall be constructed as part of the aeration compartment. 3. Aeration Compartment: The aeration compartment shall con- tain not less than 1250 gallons of volume and be of such a configuration that it can be thoroughly mixed and aerated by aeration equipment. 4. Aeration Equipment: (a) Blower or Devices: Aeration equipment shall be provided with two separate air blowers or two separate aeration devices. Each device shall be equipped with controls, time clocks (1 hour, 1 minute duration), starters, fuses or brakers. Each aeration device or blower shall have the capacity to deliver not less than ten 10 cubic feet of air per minute into the aeration compart- ment. or demonstrate the ability to maintain dis- solved oxygen levels of greater than two (2) mg. per liter in peak loading conditions from vari- fied past test data. (b) Location: The location of blowers, motors or other devices shall be located on the top of the aeration unit in such a way that they do not hin- der accessibility to any compartments. The blower motor or other device shall be in an enclosure completely covered witha removable, lockable cover with the cover being located twenty-four (24) inches above the tank top. Controls shall be located in a separate location from the motors, devices or blowers with separate disconnect switches lo- cated at motors. (c) Motors: Motors shall be weather-proof, drip -proof motors with 208 V.,3 -phase power. (d) Mixing: The aeration equipment shall be adequate to mix the aeration compartment. 5. Outflow: Outflow from the aeration compartment to the clari- fier compartment shall be from mid -depth or deeper in the aeration tank. (a) Access: The aeration tank shall have a cover which is mer ovable to provide access into the aeration tank. The access port shall be provided to twenty- ?, four (24) inches above the top of the tank to earth surface. The access shall be 1.75 square feet in area and be equipped with lockable cover. 6. Clarifier: A clarifier shall be provided with hopper type bottom containing a volume not less than 325 gallons and a surface area of not less than eight (8) square feet. (a) Access: The clarifier shall be equipped with a portjwhere access can be obtained into the clari- fier,compartment with access being provided to the earth surface twenty-four (24) inches above the tank top. The access shall be at least 1.75 square feet in area, and be equipped with lockable cover. 7. Sludge Return: Sludge return shall be accomplished from the bottom of the hopper of the clarifier to the aeration s,C f tank through a one and One-half (1 1/2) inch diameter or larger pipe and shall be pumped from clarifier to aeration tank by an air lift pump connected to blower line or other means of flow pumping. 8. Pump Station: The pump station shall be installed consist- ing of a sump not less than 3.5 feet below water level in the clarifier and having a water surface area of not less than 9.62 square feet. The pump sump may be connected to the treatment plant or may be a separate unit. The pump station shall be equipped with two (2) submersible pumps which shall be "Hydromatic SP 100AH3 3" -discharge or greater. The pump shall be capable of pumping at least sixty (60) gallons per minute with forty (40) feet of pres- sure head. The pumps shall be equipped with water level �' sensing devices mounted onto the -pumps such that the pumps ' have a ten (10) inch or greater water level difference from turn on point to turn off point. The intake of the second pump shall be located twelve (12) inches above the intake level of the first pumps which is on the sump floor. Each pump shall be equipped with check valve and pipe which extends to 5.5 feet beneath the earth's surface. At that point the pipe shall be equipped with a 90° bend toward the horizontal end into a union connection. To con- tinue the pipe, a Y section shall be installed and the pipe shall extend out from the tank horizontally with a thredded connection on the exterior. 9. Venting: All compartments of the plant shall be vented for necessary air flow. 10. Piping: All piping into and between tanks except the sludge return line and the piping from the pumps shall be eight (8) inches in diameter. The Contractor shall also furnish the following: 1. A complete electrical drawing to the Owner for installation of electrical service. 2. A complete one (1) year warranty on all parts of the treat- ment plant and pump station. If any part is replaced, the replacedpart hall carry an additional warranty for a period of one (1) yeak4 from date of replacement. 3. Instructions to the Owner or the Owner's representative on operation and maintenance of the plant and pump station and be available at time of start up of the treatment plant. I• The sewage treatment supplier shall be in complete conformance with the regulations governing the sewage treatment plant. These regula- tions are the current Garfield County Individual Sewage Disposal Systems Regulations. These regulations require pre -approval of any supplier by the County Division of Environmental Health.
