GARFIELD COUNTY BUILDING AN 970-945-8212 D PLANNING MINIMUM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS For SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING CONSTRUCTION Including NEW CONSTRUCTION ADDITIONS ALTERATIONS And MOVED BUILDINGS In order to understand the scope of the work intended under a permit application and expedite the issuance of a permit it is important that complete information be provided. When reviewing a plan and it's discovered that required information has not been provided by the applicant, this will result in the delay of the permit issuance and in proceeding with building construction. The owner or contractor shall be required to provide this information before the plan review can proceed. Other plans that are in line for review may be given attention before the new information may be reviewed after it has been provided to the Building Department. Please review this document to determine if you have enough information to design your project and provide adequate information to facilitate a plan review. Also, please consider using a design professional for assistance in your design and a construction professional for construction of your project. Any project with more than ten (10) occupants requires the plans to be sealed by a Colorado Registered Design Professional. To provide for a more understandable plan in order to determine compliance with the building, plumbing and mechanical codes, applicants are requested to review the following checklist prior to and during design. Applicants are required to indicate appropriately and to submit the completed checklist at time of application for a permit. Plans to be included for a Building Permit, must be on drafting paper at least 18"x24" and drawn to scale. Plans must include a floor plan, a concrete footing and foundation plan, elevations all sides with decks, balcony, steps, hand rails and guard rails, windows and doors, including the finish grade line and original grade. A section showing in detail, from the bottom of the footing to the top of the roof, including re -bar, anchor bolts, pressure treated plates, floor joists, wall studs and spacing, insulation, sheeting, house -rap, (which is required), siding or any approved building material. Engineered foundations may be required. A window schedule. A door schedule. A floor framing plan, a roof framing plan, roof must be designed to withstand a 40 pound per square foot up to 7,000 feet in elevation, a 90 M.P.H. wind speed, wind exposure B or C, and a 36 inch frost depth. All sheets to be identified by number and indexed. All of the above requirements must be met or your plans will be returned. All plans submitted must be incompliance with the 2003 IRC. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FB 30 Product Information FB 30 is an FSK (Foil -Scrim -Kraft) product most commonly used as a facing for duct wrap insulation, but has many other insulation applications where a general use vapor retarder is needed. It is also a good choice for radiant barrier applications because of its extremely low emissivity. Please contact Technical Service for help with product and applications questions at 877-5COMPAC (1-877-526-6722). FIRE BARRIERS AND FIRE RESISTANCE TECHNICAL BULLETIN FIRE RESISTANCE AND TESTING Most Compac products are flame retardant due to stringent code requirements in the industrial and commercial segments we serve. Even though they may contain paper and plastic film, most are only partially combustible and self -extinguishing. Generally speaking, Compac products do not provide protection from fire nor impart fire resistance to other materials in a structure or system. They are fire retardant in and of themselves, and this may enable a system that is otherwise fire resistant to meet certain requirements. They are not intended to provide fire barrier protection for other materials in a building structure. Fire tests results are intended to provide information on relative performance of materials or systems under controlled conditions. The results should not be relied upon to indicate the ability of a material to reduce hazard risk under actual fire conditions. STANDARD TEST: Codes for commercial construction and industrial applications typically contain fire resistance requirements. There are many tests for fire resistance, for materials and structures. The standard test for our products in the industry we serve is ASTM E 84, Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials. Methods such as UL 723 and NFPA 255 are equivalent tests. In basic terms, this test (also known as the "tunnel test") determines the surface spread of flame and the smoke generated in burning, in a horizontal orientation. Results are comparative with a standard of red oak. The lower the numerical result, the better the fire resistance indicated. Many commercial codes require 25 flame spread/50 smoke generated maximums. Most Compac vapor retarders and insulation tapes are flame retardant, due to the code requirements. In many cases, insulation products made with our products attached are tested in "composites", which consist of vapor retarder -adhesive -insulation. In the metal building insulation market, we have our own composite classifications. In the commercial/industrial market, our customers typically conduct testing and obtain their own composite classifications. The majority of our products have their own surface burning characteristics (SBC) classification, as tested with no other components attached, for those applications where this is desired and acceptable. OTHER TESTS: If you have specific testing requirements, we can provide samples and technical assistance to help you test our product. FURTHER INFORMATION: For further information and to discuss specific questions, please contact our Technical Service Manager at 1-877-5COMPAC (1-877-526-6722).
