•State of Colorado, to request a text change to the Garfield County Zoning
Resolution in connection with the following zone district(s); to wit:
Text Change:
Section 3.10.04 Gentle slopes and lower valley floor.
Uses, special: Section to include sanitary landfill.
Said text change is to pelmit sanitary landfill: A method of disposing of refuse
on land without creating nuisances to public health or safety by safe
engineering principles.

All persons affected by the proposed text amendment are invited to appear and
state their views, protests or objections. If you cannot appear personally
at such meeting you are urged to state your views by letter, particularly if
you have objections to such text amendment, as the County Coiuulissioners will
give consideration to the comments of surrounding property owners and others
affected in deciding whether to grant or deny the request for text amendment.
This text change application may be reviewed at the office of the Planning
Director located at 2014 Blake Ave., Glenwood Springs, Colorado, between the
hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Union Oil Company of California hereby requests the Garfield.
County Commissioners to consider the enclosed application for
a special use permit to construct and operate a sanitary landfill.
This proposed landfill will be solely for the use of Union Oil
Company of California. The special use permit is requested as
an accessory use while constructing oil shale development
facilities.
Enclosed are fifteen (15) copies of the draft report relating
to the development of the santiary landfill. The draft report
outlines the general aspects associated with the sanitary landfill,
its construction and operation. This report has been prepared
for the joint purpose of supporting an application to the Colo-
rado Department of Health and to the Garfield County Commissioners.
We would like to thank you in advance for your consideration on
this matter.

I am responding to your letter dated July 13, 1983 requesting
approval of bank stabilization on Parachute Creek in Garfield
County at Range 96 West, Township 5 South, Section 36.
The Department of the Army issued a Nationwide permit that allows
placement of fill material for bank stabilization, provided the
activity is less than 50C feet in length and is limited to less than
one cLbic yard per running foot. Your project can be accomplished
under this authority provided the work meets the conditions listed on
the attached information sheet.
