The Grand Valley Fire Protection District has reviewed the planned pipeline
action from Colorado Interstate Gas Company (CIG). Per my discussion with
Mr. Dan Gredvig of CIG the pipeline would be constructed near the Union Oil
upgrade facility and run parallel to the existing Barrett Energy Co. line, up
Parachute Creek and out of our District. No new compressor stations are
planned. A metering station is planned. The natural gas pipeline will be
constructed under Department of' Transportation specifications.
The Grand Valley Fire Protection District hereby approves the proposed action
based on the information specified above. The proposed action is described as:
Resolution # 95-019
Name: Parachute Creek Lateral of CIG

RE: Parachute Creek Lateral
Resolution # 95-019
Dear Mr. Michaelson:
Colorado Interstate Gas Company applied for and was granted
a Special Use Permit, Resolution # 95-019, by the Board of County
Commissioners, Garfield County, Colorado on March 6th, 1995.
CIG's construction schedule has been delayed this year due
to the natural gas market conditions. CIG anticipates
construction of this pipeline to take place in 1996, so CIG is
requesting the Board of County Commissioners to grant CIG a year
extension of its Special Use Permit until July of 1996.
If you have any questions please call me at 307-324-3437
ext. 252. Thank you for your time and cooperation in this
matter.

I have received Public Notice from the Planning Department of Garfield County that it is your
intention to run a pipeline across Unocal land as you discussed with me in the past. It seems
premature on your part as there are several concerns Unocal has and we have discussed in the
past.
Unocal's position is that it does not want pipelines or metering stations built through hay fields.
We have reservations also as to how you are going to go over Davis Point without doing a lot of
blasting that would do severe damage to (he rock faces on Davis Point. It would be necessary to
blast as the only open area through the face has been used.
Unocal feels, and will make it's point to the commissioners that Exxon and Chevron would make
for a cleaner installation as it would not be necessary to take another line over Davis Point,
Sincerely,
Gary W. Parks
