DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSAL:
Rocky Mountain Rafting, Inc.
Colorado Division of Highways.
5 miles east of Glenwood Springs on Highway
6 & 24 at Grizzley Creek. See pages 17 & 18.
Bottled water will be provided on-site for all
rafting participants.
Two portable chemical toilets will be located
on-site.
Access is from State Highway 6 & 24 by existing
driveways.

The applicant will have ingress points for the rafting operation at the
Shoshone Power Plant and the Grizzley Creek location. The egress points will
be at Coors landing and at Tibbits point east of New Castle. All on-site
operational facilities for the business will be located at the i acre Grizzley
Creek site. These include a semi -trailer for storage and office use. Drinking
water 'and portable chemical toilets will be provided on-site. One trash dumpster
will be on the site, and will be served once a week by Scott Disposal. Sufficient
parking is available on-site for the projected number of participants, as the applicant
utilizes their own buses to transport large groups from their lodgings to the site.
The applicant serves anywhere from 50-75 people on an average day to 150 people
on a busy day. No residential uses are being requested.
MISCELLANEOUS:
We have the lease agreement with the Division of Highways.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommendation is for approval with the following conditions:
1. All proposals of the applicant shall be considered conditions of approval
unless stated otherwise by the Board of County Conuuissioners.
2. This Special Use Permit shall expire three months from the date of issuance of
the Special Use Permit.
3. The operational site shall be kept in a litter• -free condition at all times.
4. At the completion of the operational season, all temporary facilities shall be
removed and reclaimed to the surface owner's specifications.
5. No residential uses shall be allowed on-site.
6. The "boat yard" storage area shall be fenced for security.
REMINDER TO APPLICANT:
Must also receive temporary permit for storage trailer, and abide by the county
sign code.
