We understand that during the excavation for the new foundation a large boulder was encountered. In lieu of removing the boulder, we recommend that the boulder remain in place and the new footing be place over the top. In addition, the constmction drawings prepared by our office noted that the footing shall consist of a 12" wide by 36" deep grade beam. In lieu of the grade beam, an 8" deep by 16" wide continuous concrete footing with an 8" wide concrete stem wall system at a minimum of 36" depth per section l /GA4 can be installed.
