As requested structural steel special inspection was conducted per the IBC 2009 Edition - Ch,p Ter
17: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and Garfield County requirements. I arrived on site at 12:00
PM. I met with you to review project requirements and high strength bolting specifi, - Vons. Thc pre -
manufactured metal building fabricator for this project is Clear Creek Construction in Oklahoma City, OK.
The steel erector for this project is Clear Creek Construction in Oklahoma City, OK. Prin- to my arrival 1
received and reviewed a copy of an engineering clarification report dated 11-30-12 from Mr. Bill Rose P.E.
with Group W Engineering, Inc. in Lakewood, CO. referencing acceptance of the "tack" welds on the crane
rail beams as referenced in my 10-26-12 report. Please refer to the attached report for project
documentation.
Visual re -inspection was conducted at the Roof Framing Plan level on the repairs to the 3'4" &
7/8" ASTM A325 High Strength beam to beam and beam to column bolted connections as referenced in
my 10-26-12 report. Project bolt tension requirements indicate "turn -of -the -nut' method as referenced in
the AISC 9`s Edition: Specification for Structural Joints using A325 or A490 Bolts and also the project
drawings provided Clear Creek Construction: Job No. 60300 dated 7-18-11: Sheet CI of 1, Bolt
Tightening. As a minimum, 10% of all connections, but not less than two bolts per connection were
inspected for proper bole tension requirements and match marking techniqucc. as stated in 113C requirements
for periodic inspection: Table 1704.3. Item 2.b Inspection was conducted at grid line A — D & 1 - 4.
Duri g Inspection I observed 2 column to beam connections to have hand tight bolts and therefore
unacceptable. I informed Mr. Marty Ruggles with Encana on site that re -tensioning of all A325 bolts shall
be conducted prior to re -inspection by Thunder Mountain Testing.
