Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Installation Observations
3768 Hwy 82
Garfield County, Colorado
OWTS Construction Permit Number SEPT-3-15-3550
Bill,
An OWTS repair permit was obtained from Garfield County for repairs outlined in our OWTS Repair
Recommendation letter dated March 6, 2015. With limited repairs to the OWTS, it is now functioning
properly with no signs of saturation or failure. Our recommendations should be kept on file for future
repairs, as the existing infrastructure is aging and future repairs may be necessary.
As recommended, the seepage pit existing prior to installation of the 1999 seepage pit was excavated
and repaired. Manhole rings were replaced and some additional gravel placed around the rings,
although there was existing gravel that could continue to be utilized. A ‘bull run’ valve was placed on the
outlet line from the septic tank, allowing the two seepage pits can be rotated. The dimensions of the
gravel in the existing seepage pit are not noted on documentation provided to us. The manhole riser
rings that were replaced were 48-inches in diameter, totaling 8-feet high, with a 2-foot cone on the top for
access. The inlet pipe enters the seepage pit below the cone, for a total of 8-feet depth capacity of the
seepage pit.
The seepage pit that was constructed in 1999 remains and recommended repairs were not conducted at
this time.
With both seepage pits now usable, it is the responsibility of the property owner(s) or occupants to
alternate seepage pits annually or at an interval appropriate for use of the OWTS. Alternating of systems
should be documented and records kept for future reference and submission to Garfield County, if
requested.
The OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. This observation is not a guarantee of
workmanship and/or parts and materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are
made to the OW TS in the future. Any additional OWTS construction must be according to the county
regulations.
LIMITS:
Observations are limited to components that are visible at the time of the inspection. The installer must
have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in
which they are working. The quality of the installation is dependent of the expertise of the installer, soil
type, and weather conditions.
Please call with questions.
Sincerely,
Carla Ostberg, MPH, REHS
