Requhed.:111512014- Refer to Details 1 through 4 on A-815, M-202 Note 23, G-202, and approved Fireplace submittals. Note 23 on M-202 indicates that the wall separating Blood Draw 2513 and Main lobby 2000 on grid line J is to stop short of the roof above the ceiling to provide make up air for the fireplace. This wall is called out on the dimension plan to be wall type Dia which is a fire rated wall that is to stop 6" above the ceiling. In order to keep the 1 hr fire rating at this location this wall was required to be framed to the structure above and drywalled on both sides. In effect combustion air cannot be drawn from the level 2 plenum as originally designed. Per conversations between ME Engineers, DPA, and FCI it was confirmed that combustion air for the fireplace shall be drawn from Main Lobby 2000. Duct is to be routed from the top of the fireplace chase to the fireplace combustion air intake. The QTZ cap that is to be installed on the top of the fireplace is to have a duct penetration at the top of the QTZ cap, and duct is to be installed flush with the finished QTZ surface. A duct screen is to be provided at this penetration in order to keep objects from falling into the combustion air duct. ME and DPA please confirm proposed solution is acceptable. Final location of combustion air penetration is to be coordinated in the field with FCI. Suggestion Answer DpteAnswered The fireplace appears to have (2) make-up air inlets on the back side of the unit. The openings in quartz cap shall have the same equivalent free area as the openings on the unit. Note: the screen will decrease the free area of the opening. Confirm screen free area to determine size of duct penetration. LH-MEE, 01/13/14 (3) Proposed solution is acceptable to Davis Partnership.
