Hi Steve, Per a conversation with Rock lam sending this letter to address the wall insulation/vapor barrier issue for 38 Gamble Oak Way. According to the Energy and Environmental Building Association Builder's Guide for Cold Climates it is not desired to have a vapor barrier on the inside face of batt insulation when there is a layer of rigid insulation on the outside of the walls, which is the case here. The rigid insulating exterior sheathing acts as the exterior air flow retardet (vapor diffusion retarder). [fthe batt insulation was faced it would not allow for drying to the interior during cooling which is how it is to perform, drying to the interior during cooling and drying to the exterior during heating.
