This totter le being written to address the proposed revised step foundation that you sant ma
on May 22nd, 2003,
The detail depicts a drop footing without continuous rebar reinforcing es called out an the
foundation plan.
Upon review of the fax and assuming the following conditions, I am comfortable with the
solution you have proposed,
The conditions are as follows
• No intermediary steps in the foundation wall between the two footings
• There are no splices In the horizontal rebar within 8`0" either way of the step
• There are no major point loads occurring at the step
1 understand there is some urgency in your construction schedule that supersedes the ability
to wait for an answer from the engineer of record, as he will be unavailable due to a
' vacation. I have, however, spoken with another engineer regarding this issue, and the
Conversation I had with him eased my concerns and ultimately fed to my recommendation of
approval.
1 plan on contacting the original engineer wisen he returns and 1 will notify you of his
comments.
