WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Date: December 14, 2002 Re: Osier Shed at The Osier Residence, 0172 Haystacknead, Oak Meadows Subdivision, Garfleki County, Co. Our office is the structural design et ginccr of record for the noted residence, and the deT chert Shed. As such, of office issued construction documents for rbc rcJde c dated July 29, 2002, and for the sbed dated September 12, 2002. The shed , which measures, in plan. 12'-0" x 10'-0", has a foundation systerrt which is independent of the primary residence. The shed is connected at its roof to the primary residence by a coverer[ breezeway Tbc single story, wood framed shed is to tx auppvtted on a shallow foundation system which is protected from frost heave by a continuous. 2" thick layer of rigid inoilation which extencic beyond the Pdge of the foundation system 2'•?" in all four directions. The foundation system itself was specified as 4" thick concrete slab with a I'-6" deep monolithic. thickened edge all around. The edge was specified to be reinforced with (1) - 4, horizontal, top and bottom, and if4, 90 degree hook bars spaced at 18" on center. The slab was specified to be reinforced with 6 x 6 - W1.4 x WI .4 welded wire fabric:. Gtvcn the size of the shed, the contractor to chose to reinforce the slab with e-4 bars spaced at 18" on center each way. Each horizontal bar was hooked into the thickened odge osier, end. This roinforoetnent substitution is structurally ncc, cptalik. 1 reviewed photographs of the shed foundation system which were taken immediately prior to placement of the foundation concrete. 1 also discussed the foundation system and its construction with Joe Mueller of Prince Creek Construction. Based upon that review, rt is my processional option that the rigid insulation, free draining backfin, reinforcement, formwork and concrete were placed in accordance with the construction documents as anieuded above. That:tore, it is also rny professional opinion that the stied foundation was approprintdy constructed in accordance with the 1947 11.8C, and is capable of ulcrecsfipparring the gravity and lateral toads noted on the construction documents.
