General Comments
As scheduled, a representative arrived on-site to perform the below discussed services and we have
the following comments.
"""OPEN HOLE*"
The exposed materials at the base of the excavation for the Gaasch Shop foundation footings were observed at the project site
located at 6636 CR 346 in Silt. CO . At bottom of footing elevat'on. the exposed materials were comprised of Lean Clay to Silty
Sand that were generally consistent with our experience of the anticipated conditions in this area. Pocket penetrometer results
indicated readings of at least 2.000 psf The base of the excavation was compacted with a walk behind roller. No project
geotechnical report has been prepared for this site, but p ans calf for an assumed soil bearing capacity of 2000 psf.
Quantitatively verifying bearing capacity generally requires access to subsurface and Standard Penetration Test data. Based on
the limited amount of subsurface data available, the observed soils appeared capable of providing an allowable bearing capacity
of 2000 psf with an associated movement potent'al 011 -inch, however, the possibility of the presence of weak subsurface
materials resulting in allowable bearing capacities of less than 2000 psf cannot be ruled out from surface observations only. In
the event that quantitative verification of allowable bearing capacity is necessary, drilling and sampling should be performed.
The exposed materials were prepared in accordance with project documents. Rodney Gaasch was notified of today's
observations.
