RE: Injection Skid anchoring
To whom it may concern:
An anchoring-by-weight analysis was performed of the Watson Ranch B injection skid house . Please see
attached calculations.
The max wind speed for the area was assumed to be 85 MPH. The object is sitting on the ground, with a
drag coefficient of 2.0. The weight of the building is 65,000 lbs. The building is 14' tall, 15' wide, and 40'
in length. It was assumed to be free-standing.
The analysis shows that the weight of the building is enough to offset the torque (moment of inertia)
generated by the wind, even when this wind loading is applied as a point load on the top of the building.
In reality, this wind load would be evenly distributed across the face of the building.
Given the weight of the building, it Is determined that it will take less force to rotate the building about
a point of rotation, than to skid the building sideways. Therefore, moment of Inertia analysi s was used
to generate the safety factor.
For this case, it is calculated that the building is sufficiently anchored (by weight) with a safety factor of
at least 1.68.
Because the weight and dimensions are very similar for the Speakman A injection skid, it is determined
that this safety factor is sufficient in that case also.
