Evidently this work was completed without a permit and the proper inspections being performed. From my review of the building on January 9, 2000, I found that the work was completed according to all the applicable Uniform Codes (1997 Editions) with the following exceptions: The hollow core door into the garage from the back room must be changed to a 1 318" solid core wood or 20 minute fire rated, self closing door. The smoke detectors throughout the home must be upgraded to current standards due to the work completed on this remodel being valued at an amount greater than $1,000. was told that these upgrades would be completed within 30 days. I will reevaluate these upgrades, at the White's expense, at that time and inform you of the results. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions pertaining to this subject. Adequate and complete information will prevent delays in the plan review process. Reviewing a plan and the discovery that required information has not been provided by the applicant may result in the delay of the permit issuance and in proceeding with building construction. The owner or contractor may be required to provide this information before the plan review may proceed. This causes delays because other plans that are in line for review may be given attention before the new information may be reviewed after it has been provided to the Building Department. Please review this document to determine if you have enough information to design your project and provide adequate information to facilitate a plan review. u you do not, it may be helpful to obtain a book titled "Dwelling Construction under the Uniform Building Code". This book is available to you through this department at our cost.
