When reviewing a plan and it's discovered that required information has not been provided by the applicant, this will result in the delay of the permit issuance and in proceeding with building construction. The owner or contractor shall be required to provide this information before the plan review can proceed. Other plans that are in line for review may be given attention before the new information may be reviewed after it has been provided to the Building Department. Please review this document to determine if you have enough information to design your project and provide adequate information to facilitate a plan review. Also, please consider using a design professional for assistance in your design and a construction professional for construction of your project. To provide for a more understandable plan in order to determine compliance with the building, plumbing and mechanical codes, applicants are requested to review the following checklist prior to and during design. Applicants are required to indicate appropriately and to submit the completed checklist at time of application for a permit. Below is a outline of the construction methodology, soil properties and calculated stability of the trailers. The 26K pad was constructed using blasted rock-fill generated from the cut-portions of the pad. The material consists of gravels and cobbles sized, angular, shale. It was placed in 1-2ft lifts and compacted using the D9 dozers (107,000lb) and sheepsfoot rollers (on the upper 6ft of the pad). This provides a stable platform to establish the drill rig on and stage equipment and machinery for the drilling operation. A series of trailers will be placed on the fill section of the pad for the man-camp. The maximum weight of the trailers is 42,000 Lbs resulting in an additional260 psfbearing pressure applied to the surface of the pad. Bearing capacity calculations of the rock-fill pad were completed. The properties of this shot-rock material are: phi = (36-40) deg c = Opsf unit weight = 120pcf The factor of safety (FS), calculated against a bearing and shear failure was FS = 14.6 (phi=36deg). This confirms the soil properties and compaction effort applied during construction are sufficient to support the loads of the trailers and main housing units of the man- camp. The relationship between the bearing capacity factors, N(1, N,., and N-v and the angle of in- ternal friction is presented in Figure 13-4. The first and third terms in this equation represcnl the Prandti-Reissner solution for the condition of a weightless soil. The second term represents the separate solution to a deter- mination of the ultimate bearing capacity for a cohesion less soil with weight but no over- burden effects (a necessary consideration because the Pnmdt\-Reissner terms do not in- clude a shearing resistance from the effect of soil weight and internal friction, <1>. in the failure zones). This method of superposition (i.e., a simple combination of three terms) to 474 • Chapter 13 estimations, simplifies the analysis, but the effect is to provide conservative results. When subject to a foundation loading ncar to the ultirnate, zone I behaves a'> an active zone thnt pushes the radial zone II sideways and the passive zone lJI laterally upwards. Boundaries AC and DE shown on Figure 13-3c me c.:-~:-;cntinlly straight lines; the shape of section CD varies from circular (when the soil angle. ol' internal friction¢ is z:ero degrees) to a curve interme- diate between a logarithmic spiral nnd a circle (when 4> is greater than zero degrees). Terzaghi developed a general bearing capacity equation for strip footings that combined the effects of soil cohesion and internal friction, foundation size, soil weight, and surcharge effects in order to simplify the L'i\ll:tll<ttions necessary for foundation design. His equation utilized the concept of dimensioniGss hcuring capacity factors whose values are a function of the shear possessed by the supponing soils. Through ensuing years, the ultimate bearing capacity for shallow and deep foundations has continued to be studied in the quest for rc~ fined definition of foundation soil hehavinr ;.tnd a generalized bearing capacity equation that agrees well with failure conditions occurring in model and large-scale foundation tests.:1 Modifications to early concepts haw c1nergcd from such studies, but the general form of the 11:rzaghi bearing capacity equation has b(~t~n retained because of its practicality. The ultimate bearing capacity equation, :-;hown as Equation 13-la and developed from the conditions outlined in Figure U<k for long footings, has been found to provide good ngreement with ultimate loads observed !'or model and large-scale foundations. This equation shows the Tcrzaghi format, but the L'lll'rcnl dimensionless bearing capacity factors are there- sult of better definition of the. soil l'<li lure zones: (13-ln) where Q111 t :::=:. total loading acting at the base of the strip foundation whose width is Band length is L (kips, kN, clc.) I am preparing Building Permits for Temporary Employee Housing Units for I Noble location. This is on a COGCC approved well pad location, in Section 26, township 7 south, range 96 west,. This pad is accessed via County Road 300 to County Road 304 to an existing private roadway. Attached is a map of the roads leading to the location. 1 I need a driveway penni! exemption letter rrom you. Could you send me an email that I can use for my Building Permits? I appreciate your help, thanks very much. Please call me if you have any questions. Lome Lome C.
