Re: Foundation Excavation Observation

Terracon Project No. 20155046
Dear Mr. Lee:
lrerracan
Previously, Terracon Consultants, Inc. (Terracon) prepared a Geotechnical Engineering Report
(Project No . 25155011A; report dated February 27, 2015) for the project referenced above. We
were requested to perform and foundation excavation observation (open-hole) for the equipment
shed adjacent to the communications tower. This report presents the results of the excavation
observation .
Upon arrival at the site, Terracon spoke with Josh Drews with Chevron . The excavation for the
equipment shed had been completed to an approximate depth of 4 feet below the surrounding
grade. The excavation was bottomed in sandstone bedrock. The soils above the bottom of the
excavation were consistent with the soils encountered in our exploratory boring completed as part
of our initial subsurface investigation. We observed loose soil and bedrock fragments at the
bottom of the excavation and requested the loose soils be removed prlor to the placement of
foundations concrete. Mr. Drews said he would remove the loose soils and bedrock fragments
from the bottom of the excavation prior to concrete placement.
The recommendations presented in this report should be used in conjunction with those presented
in our initial Geotechnical Engineering Report for the project. The General Conditions should be
reviewed and understood to apply to those engineering recommendations and opinions presented
herein.
