RE: Requested change to Structural Plans
The 2x6 wall will accommodate the required R·20 insulation value. I have inserted a copy of the engineer's letter into
the permit file. No need for further review, just keep a copy of the letter with the plans for the framing inspection.
Thank you,
David

Subject: Requested change to Structural Plans
Hi David,
In our original house plans we specified double stud walls, but after doing quite a bit of research this winter, we
have decided that we are going to go with single stud (2x6) walls. We had our engineer (Lucy Hunter from
Odisea Engineering) take a look at our plans and she has confirmed that there are no significant structural
changes needed to accommodate this change. Attached is a Jetter from her.
Do you require any further documentation or information for us to move forward with framing our walls this
way?
Thanks,
Bailey Haines

Re: Wall Framing at Haines Residence, Satank Lot 2393-284-09-012, Garfield County, CO
Dave:
This letter is provided at the request of the owners of the subject property to change the wall framing system from
what is shown on the approved plans.
1 have performed the structural calculations and determined that single 2x6 HF#2 studs at 24" o.c., rather than the
double 2x4 stud wall originally called for on the approved plans, are sufficient to resist both vertical and lateral
loading as required by Garfield County. Holdown studs shall be (2) 2x6 rather than (2) 2x4 and the sill plate can
be single 2x6 rather than 2x8 or double 2x4.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Very Respectfully,
Lucy Hunter, P.E.
