Garages typically do not need to be insulated or sheet rocked. The outside siding would need to be completed and a garage door may be optional. I would suggest we do the framing and see the present conditions. Are the root cellar, mud room, and deck done? Andy Original Message From: Kirk Leintz [maiIto:alpineconstructioninc@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 19, 2011 1:18 PM To: Andy Schwaller Subject: Re: Request for permit extension The majority of the framing is complete. We were originally going to remove the wall that seperates the old garage to the new addition, but in lew of finances we are just going to leave it. So other than that the framing is done. List of remaining items: Electrical inspection Insulation - probably won't do, too expensive Sheetrock - also too expensive Garage door - is expensive but no choice Siding - we were originally going to stucco but will probably put T- 111 on instead to save on cost. Or can we leave the plywood sheeting until we have enough money to do real siding or stucco? Can we get a framing inspection at the same time as the electrical? My recollection of the project is that most the structures are already built. It could be once the electrical is complete, we could close out the permit. Original Message From: Kirk Leintz [mailto:alpineconstructioninc@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 19, 2011 12:47 PM To: Andy Schwaller Subject: Request for permit extension From: Kirk Leintz <alpineconstructioninc@yahoo.com> To: Andy Schwaller <aschwaller@garfield-county.com> 2 Sent: Wed, January 19, 2011 12:46:01 PM Subject: Request for permit extension Andy Hello This is Kirk & Melissa Leintz permit # 6901 We are formally requesting an extension on our permit # 6901 address 263 Riverbend drive, New Castle, Colorado, 81647, Phone 309-3200 or 984-2029. We were issued a permit back on 8/3/2010 for our garage, we were under the assumption that this was to be a 12 month permit with the possibility of a 6 month extension in the event that we needed further time to complete the construction to the building departments requirement to obtain a final C/O. We totally missed the fact that the date on this permit for expiration was 1/30/211. This is unfortunate that we did not notice this sooner or when we picked up the permit. The reason we even expected the permit to be for 12 months was because we had been told by several key people including the building dept. that that's what it would be for. We would be very appreciative if we could get it extended the other 7 months to a 12 month permit with the possibility of of an extension for an additional 6 months if needed. We have made a lot of progress towards finishing the garage but will not be able to finish by January 30th 2011. We hope to have an electrical inspection by the end of this week or first of next week. Shortly after that we will be getting the framing inspection. We apologize for not noticing this date sooner, we only noticed it when getting info for the electrician for the upcoming inspection. We would also like to bring events to your attention that we hope will shed some light on or situation as well and hopefully show our current distress. We meaning myself and my wife have been virtually unable to secure work since 8/3/2011. Our financial situation has worsened since 8/3/2011, all of the work done to date has been by ourselves and any work done by the electrician or others has been a trade situation since monies are so tight. Unfortunately this means we are at their mercy as to when they are actually able to do work for us. Next we have had 2 more deaths in the family ( current total 5 ) both of which has taken a further financial and mental drain on us all. Sadly we are faced with 3 more family members that are on death beds as we speak. These are all on my fathers side and this has taken an even greater toll on him as I'm sure you can imagine. My parents are retired and on a fixed budget and this unfortunately also means they are in even greater financial distress than us. This being said we hope that you will extend the permit for the remainder of the 12 months with a possibility for an extension of 6 months if needed down the road. We are unsure what toll the next 3 deaths and God forbid any other nightmares may have on our situation or finances. We are making every attempt to satisfy the building dept. to finalize the garage. We would be completely open to any inspections of the garage you or your dept. would like to make to satisfy that we are indeed working towards that end. Please feel free to call us concerning any questions you may have. Thank you in advance for your time Andy it is very much appreciated. Truly. We look forward expectantly for your answer.
