With an assumed snow load of 40psf and standard live loads on the floor and loft we calculated the foundation soil loading to be approximately 56Opsf, which is within what we would expect the allowable bearing pressure to be. LHowever, the monolithic thickened slabs of the perimeter of the structure is not below frost depth and maybe susceptible to frost heave/thaw settlement. High Country Engineering has enclosed a copy of the design calculations for the expected applied loads to the foundation. Tins letter is only our opinion of the foundation, and is not meant to imply that HCE has any Lresponsibility for its design,.. construction, or its future functioning. Our records show that no building permit was issued by this office for the above mentioned construction and, if this activity has occurred, it violates both Garfield County Building Codes (1988 Uniform Building Code, Sec. 202(e) and Colorado Revised Statutes, Sec. 30-28-205(i)). This activity, upon conviction is punishable by a $100 fine, ten (10) days in jail or both with each day constituting a separate offense. If resolution to this matter is not obtained within thirty (30) days of receipt of this letter, all information will be forwarded to the Garfield County Attorney's office for legal action.
