Sopris Engineering has performed numerous site visits to inspect and document the as built conditions of the constructed OWS. The as -built size and configuration of the completed system components were installed in accordance with the design plan drawings. The OWS components have been installed, utilizing specified materials, in accordance with State Regulations, the design presented in the Sopris Engineering design drawings; dated May 27, 2009. The new OWS was installed to replace an existing failed system and serves the existing 4 bedroom residence on Lot 15 Canyon Creek Estates. As -Built Conditions The advanced secondary treatment system is sized to effectively treat a design peak flow of 900 gpd. The pressure dosed system handles the domestic wastewater from the existing 4 bedroom residence. This system utilizes the original 1500 gallon poly tank as the primary solids septic tank. The new treatment components includes a 1500 -gallon dual compartment concrete septic treatment tank as well as a 500 gallon dosing tank with a pump assembly installed for full pressure dosing of the new Geoflow drip line dispersal field. A 4" gravity sewer line has been installed from the primary tank to the secondary treatment tank with a minimum slope of 2%. The new1500 gallon treatment tank is installed with a pump system and an Orenco Systems AX -20 treatment pod to provide active secondary treatment of the wastewater through the recirculating packed bed filter system. The treatment pod is installed above the tank between the two 24" diameter 36" deep tank access risers. The AX -20 unit provides high performance secondary treatment of the effluent prior to controlled pressure discharge to the Geoflow field dispersal field. The Advantex re -circulating packed bed filter treatment system has been installed by a qualified installer in compliance with the manufactures specifications. The treated effluent discharge, from 500 gallon dosing tank to the Geoflow field laterals, is controlled through the installed headworks assembly components that are housed in a large valve box adjacent to the tank. The assembly controls the flow through the 1 -inch discharge supply transport line from the dosing pump and the 1" returnlflush line back to the dosing tank. The simplex dosing pump/filter assembly and recirculation pump are automatically controlled, monitored and powered through a control panel. The Gcoflow dripline distribution laterals are installed with a minimum 2 feet spacing in shallow trenches at a depth of 8"-12" below the landscaped yard area. The dripline laterals have pressure compensating emitters on 2 -feet centers along each run. The Geoflow dripline field laterals are approximately 40'-105' long in an approximate north south alignment on relatively level ground with a slight slope from east to west. The Geoflow laterals are installed with a supply manifold pipe and a return manifold pipe installed on up gradient and down gradient ends of the lateral array respectively. The treated effluent is pressure dosed through the laterals through the 1" supply line with drain back to the tank through the return line during each dosing cycle. The manifolds have Air vacuum breakers at the high points in the field to ensure full equal pressurization of the lines and to positive drain back to the tank that prevents freezing of the dispersal lines. Sopris Engineering LLC. performed percolation tests on April 7, 2009. which indicated -an average percolation rate of 25 min/in. Percolation test holes were prepared and pre soaked by Sopris Engineering 16 hours prior to testing. The average percolation rates in each hole were based on the last three readings of each test. The average percolation rate for the field is based on the combined average of the percolation rates of each hole. Our design is based on a 30 minlin percolation rate that has and equivalent hydraulic loading rate of 0.6 gaUS.F.lday. This loading rate was used to calculate the size of the Geoflow dripline array. OWS Operation and Maintenance The engineered system shall he inspected on a regular basis and be properly maintained. Ownership of the system and responsibility for construction, repair and maintenance will remain with the Lot Owner. The Owner shall retain the services of qualified personnel to inspect the OWS and to perform all maintenance and repairs necessary to ensure that the system is fruictioning properly, is in good operating condition and is in compliance with the manufacturer's performance requirements. The operating components of the OWS system was inspected within 30 days of being placed into operation and has been inspected and maintained bi-annually. The systems control box has a performance data recording unit with remote telemetry that sends information to a data base through a phone line connection to the service provider. A continuous inspection and maintenance service contract is in place with Valley Precast, Inc., that provides for maintenance and inspections every 6 months. Install a 1500 -gallon two compartment tank in series with an Orenco Advantex AX -20 treatment unit. The tank shall hove appropriate access openings with 24" dia. x 36" deep Orenco risers with insulated lids. Tank shall hove cast inplace watertight riser adapters. Sub Surface Conditions and Testing: Subsurface soli investigations and Percolation tests were performed by Sopris Engineering. Three percolation test holes were prepared approximately 18 to 24 inches deep to calculate rates and estimate hydraulic loading in the shallow onsite soils suitable far geo flow drip line installation. The average rate was determined to be 25 MPI. .30 MPI is used for design. The fastest measured rate was 12 MPI and the slowest rate was 43 MPI. The soils below 1/2 foot of topsoil consist of medium dense, clayey silty sand with scattered gravel. Below 3 1/2 feet the soils become increasingly dense clayey silty sand. No free water was encountered In the exploration pH. Groundwater levels are expected to be below a minimum of 20 feet from the existing surface grades. Additional percolation tests were performed by Sopris Engineering at 36 to 48 inches below the surface. The overage percotatfen rotes were 80 to 102 minutes per Inch. At the time of the original county permit the design was based on a county assessment that indicated percolation rates of 15 MPI. A hydraulic loading rate of 0.6 gal/S.F./day has been determined for design based on the recent evaluation and observations by Sopris Engineering for dispersal of secondary treated effluent in the upper soil zones. 12" to 18" below the surface. 5oi1 Qjspersol System Design; The dispersal field will be designed based on utilizing conservative loading rote for the native soils to accept treated effluent in shallow dripfines. The design percolation rate of 30 MPI is typical for a loam to Clay loam soil. Therefore o conservative hydroufic loading rate of 0.6 gal/S.F./day was used to size the drip field system for intermittent pressure dosed treated effluent across the field. The dispersal area is sized based on the calculated quantity of treated effluent utilizing the standard Geoflow dripline sizing criteria with a loading rate of 0.6 gal/S.F./day. The dripline dispersal is proceeded by advanced secondary treatment of the wastewater. The treated effluent will be pressure dosed in small quantifies across the field at frequent intervals through individual dripline laterals. The small amount of treated effluent will infiltrate into the natural soils over an average 12" diameter radius around the individual dripline emitters. The area required for dispersal field utilizing the loading rate for the native soils Is approximately 1500 S.F. assuming the standard 2' on center emitter spacing and the minimum 2" separation between dripline laterals. The calculated total length of dripline is 750 L.F. An Orenco Systems, inc. Advatex AX -20 secondary treatment system followed by a Geoflow dripline dispersal field.
