CO 81623 June 27.2017 ATTN: Mr. Ben Sanders RE:Mine Drop Building 1850 Transfer Trail Glenwood Springs. CO *Field Inspection Permit #4574 Dear Mr. S¿rnders. As requested. structural steel special inspection was conducted per the IBC 2015 Edition - Chapter l7: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the City of Glenwood Springs requirements. I arrived at the job site at l2:00 PM. I met with you to be briefed about the project requiring my presence. The certitìed welder perlorming the welding *as Mr. Brian Stoddard. I have been provided with Mr. Stoddard's Welder Qualification Test Record (WQTR) and Continuity Record. Documents viere reviewed and all were obsen'ed to be acceptable with project requirements. The drawings utilized during inspection were prepared by Alpine Edge Engineering. The structural drawing 53.2 provides the pertinent details as follows: Detail 4 - Glu Lam beanr pocket. Detail 8 - Column Cap to Beam and to Column welded connections. and Detail I I - Colurnn Base Plate to Column welded connection. Prior to my inspection I received and reviewed an e- tnail conespondence for the project structural engineer Mr. Mike Arbaney with Colorado Structural, Inc. accepting a non-detailed column splice. Please refer to the aÍached correspondence lor pr oj ect documentation. Visual rvelding inspection was conclucted at level L2 Stl. The items inspected were the following: l) Grid point D.4 & 3: column to column cap and column cap to beam welded connections. 2) Grid point 8.7 &.3: column to column cap and column cap to beam rvelded connections, ând all welding on a Glu Lam beam pocket,3) Grid point 3 & C: all welding on a Glu Lam beam pocket. and 4) Grid point 3 & D: all welding on a Glu Lam beam pocket. Visual welding inspection was also conducted at the crawl space level as follows: I ) Grid point 8.7 & 3: column to base plate welded con¡rection and all welding on a Glu Lam beam pocket, 2) Grid point 8.7 & 2: column to base plate. colunrn 10 cap plate and cap plate to beam welded connections. and all welding on a Clu Lam beam pocket. 3) Grid point D.4 & 2: column to base plate, column to cap plate and cap plate to beanl u'elded connections. anil all welding on a Glu Lanl bearn pocket.4) Grid Page2 of2 point 2 & c: all welcling on a Glu l-am beam pocket. and 5) Grid point 2 & C.9: oll welding on a Glu Lam beam pocket. They have done a full penetration weld around the column. and also added 20" long l/4" stiffener plates to two sides of the column. This rvorks structurallv. The new'foundation wall that is going to be a 6'-0" tall wall will have a 36" looting ancl will have half geo foam and half soil retaining. This will work with the same detail as the building. Tlte new wall may be dowled into the existing building with #5 epoxy tlowels Qyl6"o.c. with 4" embedment. Please let me know if you need anytlring else. T-hanks.
