Gentlemen:
Project No. 16-7-570
Observation of Drilled Pier Installations, Proposed Residence, Lot 30, Heron
Crossing at Ironbridge, River Bend Way, Garfield County, Colorado
As requested, a representative of H-P/Kumar observed the drilled pier installations at the subject
site on March 21, 22 and 23, 2017 for building foundation support. The findings of our
observations are presented in this report. The observations were performed in addition to our
agreement for professional services with RM Construction dated November 8, 2016. We
previously provided recommendations for design of drilled pier foundations at the site in a report
dated December 9, 2016, Project No. 16-7-570.
The foundation of the proposed residence was designed by Lindauer-Dunn to be supported on
forty drilled piers of 12 to 18 -inch diameter. Our observations of the pier hole drilling are
presented in the attached Drilled Pier Observation Reports. The pier holes were observed to
have fully penetrated the alluvial fan deposits and adequately embedded in the underlying river
gravel deposit. Due to caving of the gravel, the practical drilling limit was typically 2 to 21/2 feet
into the deposit. Based on the previous subsurface exploration and our current observations at
the site, the installed piers appear adequate to support the recommended design values and pier
load capacities.
The findings submitted in this letter are based on our observation of the pier installations, our
experience in the area and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variations in the
subsurface conditions below the helical piers could increase the risk of foundation movement.
Our services do not include determining the presence, prevention or possibility of mold or other

All pier holes drilled today were 18" diameter drilled to a total
depth of 10' to 11' and embedded 2 to 21/2' into river gravels
which caused gravels to cave. All pier holes were dry and
drilled within plumb limits. All pier holes received 12" diameter
rebar cages with (6) #5 verticals and #3 rings at 12" o. c. All
pier holes were concreted same day as drilled with concrete
testing to follow in a separate report.
Shawn with Penley was informed that pier holes were drilled to
proper depths and within plumb limits.

due to both 12" augers being disabled. All pier holes were
drilled to at least 10' in length with Pier 5028 being straightened
with a core barrel after auger was kicked out of plumb. All pier
holes were dry and embeded 2' to 4' into river gravels. All pier
holes received 12" diameter rebar cages with (6) #5 verticals
