Millenia Park One 4901 Vineland Road, Suite 650 Orlando, FL 32811 Via Email RE: Colorado Nature Ranch - ISDS Shooting Sports Facility Dear Mr. Kessler: Colorado River Engineering, Inc. (CRE) was contacted by David Meade of the Garfield County Building Department concerning the engineer's certification of the Individual Sewage Disposal Systems (ISDS) for the "shooting sports" facility constructed along Brush Creek Rd (CRD 209). During the construction of the ISDS our company inspected the installation for compliance with the design. A project certification was not originally issued due to pending grading work that had to occur from the building construction. We have subsequently observed the grading work and reviewed our files and have prepared this letter to certify the work. This letter shall serve as certification that the construction has occurred in accordance with the design guidelines and drawings and in accordance with county and state regulations. The proposed facility is intended to serve as the Shooting Sports Center and the ISDS may in the future also serve the Guest Welcome Center. For wastewater design purposes, it is assumed each of the 48 guests on the ranch may use the Shooting Sports facilities on any given day. In the capacity of the Welcome Center, the Shooting Sports faciility could be expected to provide the wastewater needs for up to 6 employees, each using up to 25 gpd. Therefore, expected sewage flow: 48 guests each using 10 gpd 6 employees each using 25 gpd Average Wastewater Requirement = 480 gpd = 150 gpd = 630 gpd Design Daily Waste Flow = 1.50 x Average Daily Waste Flow; 1.50 x 630 gpd = 945 gpd Minimum recommended concrete septic tank size = 1200 gallons. Percolation testing was performed by Colorado River Engineering, Inc. Results of percolation testing were as follows: Percolation Rate 1: Percolation Rate 2: Percolation Rate 3: Percolation Rate 4: Avg. Percolation Rate: 10 min / in 14 min / in 18 min / in 12 min / in 13.5 min / in Design Percolation Rate: 15 min / in The required absorption area (A) for a normal gravel type leach area is calculated using the following formula: A = Design flow x-,JAve.16ercolation Rate 5 Therefore, A = 945 x '15 ............... 5 A = 732 sf Garfield County Building & Planning Department allows a maximum reduction of 50% of the required leaching area for a graveless type design in a Trench configuration. This will be a Trench design, Therefore the required Area = 732 sf x 0.5 = 366 sf Required number of Standard Infiltrator Units = 366 / 15.5 = 24 units Required number of Quick 4 Infiltrator Units = 24 units x 1.5625 = 37 units There shall be 4 Trenches with each being 10 units long for a total of 40 units for uniformity. Minimum Horizontal Setbacks: Setback from Wells: 100 ft Setback from Creek: 50 ft Setback from Dry Gulch: 25 ft The above designed ISDS shall be installed satisfying all minimum setbacks and design standards as described by Garfield County Building & Planning Department ISDS regulations, and according to all manufacturers specifications and recommendations. The Shooting Sports Facilities are served by private water well. The soil testing has been conducted in accordance with generally accepted procedures. The conclusions submitted for this design are based upon the data obtained from the soil pits excavated at the locations shown on site plan. Test pits are at random locations and soil types may vary within the leach area. If during construction the leach trenches are moved from the location as shown, Colorado i'iver Engineering, Inc. is available to conduct site visits during construction to observe exposed soil types.
