As requested, on December 30, 2005, this office made a foundation and framing observation pursuant to the 2003 International Residential Code. We have reviewed the major structural components for the above referenced construction of a relocated 13' x 2W log cabin. the framing includes the original wood members comprising of 2x4 rafters with collar ties at the roof and hand axed logs at the walls with new wool and wire chinking between logs and an acrylic, elastic chinking compound around wall openings. Furthermore, the floor and ceiling construction utilize the original 2x joists with a more constricted spacing. The ness foundation consists of a 1' concrete slab atop T of drainage gravel with a perimeter drain to daylight. Based on this observation, this structure is built to current Garfield County codes and supplements and will support the design loads including a 40 psf snow load.
