SECTION 18 -PROOF OF PERFORMANCE
Materials, equipment, and methods of fabrication, construction or installation shall be based
on previously proven performance and experience of the Contractor and/or his suppliers and sub•
contractors, and sha 11 be so warranted. The warranty sha 11 cover satisfactory experience with
materials of construction, reliability of engineering and design, proven operabn ity and effi-
ciency, methods of fabrication, construction or installation, and any other consideration that is
pertinent to the objective of proven perfonnance in accordance with this specification. This
includes all appurtenances, components and combinations thereof, as well as the primary engi-
neered, fabricated and constructed or installed equipment, materjal and methods of fabrication,
construction or installation.
Braun appreciates that the Contractor and/or his suppliers and subcontractors may decide, at times
that a substitute, new development, or untried offering might be an attractive alternative to
Braun. This alternative, varying from the existing experience of the Contractor and/or his
suppliers and subcontractors, can be considered attractive only after Braun has properly evaluated
any and al 1 risks.
If the Contractor decides to offer a substitute or to offer any untried materials, equipment,
methods of fabrication, construction or installation, or engineering and design for which neither
the Contractor nor his suppliers and subcontractors possess specific experience meeting this
specification, then the Contractor shall so state and offer this as a written alternative to his
basic bid. The unproven feature shall be identified. This includes all appurtenances, compDnents
and combinations thereof, as well as the primary engineered fabricated and constructed or install-
ed equipment, material, and methods of fabrication, construction or installation.
The reviewed shop drawings wi 11 identify Braun' s acceptance of any a 1 ternati ves dea 1i ng with
unproven perfonnance or experience as covered in the paragraphs above. In supplying any item of
unproven perfonnance that is not specifically pointed out in the shop drawings, Contractor is in
noncompliance with the contractual documents and all costs in rectifying this unproven item are
for Contractor's account
