Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Installation Observations
2331 CR 100
Garfield County, Colorado
Permit Number SEPT-03-18-5421
Nona,
ALL SERVICE septic, LLC observed the installation of the onsite wastewater treatment system (OW TS)
on August 20 and October 25, 2108 for the subject property. Holmes Excavation installed the system.
Only the system serving the main house was installed at this time. The system serving the future
additional dwelling unit (ADU) was not installed.
Prior to construction of the mounded sand filter, a soil profile test pit was excavated in the area of
the proposed soil treatment area (STA) to verify assumptions used in the design were correct.
The materials encountered in the Test Pit consisted of light brown sandy loam topsoil to 2-feet, underlain
by light brown sandy loam with greater than 50% rock to a maximum depth explored of 5.0-feet.
Groundwater was encountered in the bottom of the test pit and later filled to within 2.5-feet of native
grade. We have estimated groundwater at 1-foot below grade for purposes of this design.
Soils
The installation included a new 1250-gallon, two-compartment concrete septic tank with an Orenco®
Biotube Pump Vault and an Orenco® PF3005 pump in the second compartment of the septic tank. The
pumping system was from the original system. The filter in the pump vault must be cleaned annually, or
as needed. The septic tank was anchored with Deadmen because of the high seasonal groundwater table.
Holmes Excavation performed start up of the pumping system. The control panel is located in the
mechanical room under the stairs.
Effluent is pressure dosed through a 1.5-inch diameter pump line to a mounded, 10’ x 45’ unlined sand filter.
The excavation for the sand filter began approximately at native grade. A minimum of 2-feet of sand filter
material was installed in the mound footprint. Washed concrete sand was utilized as the sand filter material.
Laterals used to disperse the effluent were surrounded by washed coarse screened gravel. The manifold
was 1.5-inches in diameter. Laterals were 1.5-inches in diameter with 5/32-inch diameter orifices facing
down, spaced 3-feet on center. Orenco® Orifice Shields were installed on the laterals at each orifice.
Laterals began 3-feet from the edges of the filter, with 2-feet between each lateral. Each 1.5-inch diameter
lateral ends in a sweeping ell facing up with a ball valve for flushing. A soil separation fabric was placed
over the gravel layer followed by approximately 1-foot of topsoil.
The mound has a minimum 3:1 slope (horizontal:vertical) extending approximately 9-feet beyond the sand
filter on all sides (with a total mound height of 3-feet above native grade).
The OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. This observation is not a guarantee of
workmanship and/or parts and materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are
made to the OW TS in the future. Any additional OWTS construction must be according to the county
regulations.
LIMITS: Observations are limited to components that are visible at the time of the inspection. The installer must
have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in
which they are working. The quality of the installation is dependent of the expertise of the installer, soil
type, and weather conditions.
Please call with questions.
Sincerely,
