Hi Jay,
I've reviewed the design and the county documents. It looks like the system was
sized to accommodate the new development, if there are 4 bedrooms in the main
residence and 2 bedrooms in the ADU. Is the county asking that we verify the
system is functioning properly?
Pitkin county is the only county that has the requirement for septic inspection prior
to building permit written in code. Garfield may just let this go through -or they
may want some paperwork that the system is in good working order. If that's the
case, I can do an inspection. Cost is $350.

Thanks for taking my call, our architect Mark McLain recommended you for this part of
the project. Basically we are remodeling a horse barn into a 1 BR Studio Apartment. This
was in the original builders plans, but never executed. He did build a septic system (in 2001)
that should accommodate though I do anticipate that there may be some changes needed.
Here is the original plan done by High Country Engineering. The barn is 100 feet from the
outflow pipe at the house, with a 40" drop. Please let me know the next step and if we need
to get together I'm very available. Just got the final architectural drawings and would like to
submit the application soon. I have attached the site plan as well.
