HomeMy WebLinkAboutOWTS Installation Observations 05.20.14ESGM www.som-rnc.com May20,2OL4 Mr. Andy Schwaller, Building Official Garfield County Community Development Department Garfield County 108 8'h Street, Suite 401 Glenwood Springs, CO 81061 Puckett land Company NOTTE Property ISDS Disposal Field Repair Perachute, Colorado Dear Andy, The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the NOLTE Property ISDS Disposal Field Repair has been completed by Miles Rippy Excavation of New Castle, Colorado under our specific direction and per our septic permit application to you of Apr'|8,20L4. The installation has been performed in accordance to our plans and specifications. As a point of information to you, what we were able to determine in the field was that the existing septic tank/dosing tank was deficient in its specific design and construction and as a result caused the absorption field to fail. The specific requirements to mitigate system failure require the effluent from the residence to enter a "two chamber" leach field and then into a dosing tank where the effluent is then pumped into the absorption (leach) field for sub surface disposal. What was found to exist at the Nolte residence was a single compartment tank with the pump installed in that tank as well. As a result all of the solids from the residence were also "pumped" into the absorption field which ultimately sealed off the infiltrative surface of the sub soils. Because of the conditions found, the existing tank was pumped out and cleaned (along with the existing pump). These two appurtenant facilities are being reused. ln addition, in front of the existing tank, Miles installed a two chambered, 1,250 gallon, septic tank to provide for the proper settlement and treatment of effluent pr¡or to entering the dosing tank and being pumped into the new absorption bed' As you review this letter you may undoubtedly have some questions or concerns.
