Doug, RAMWAY ENGINEERING, LTD. P.O Drawer 398 Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 970.945.5138 ;ww.7rai,i ii..nrr I inspected the upper terminal building footer repair this afternoon (Sheet S1c). The concrete is scheduled to be poured on the afternoon of Friday 12/21. The purpose of the inspection was to verify rebar and footer widths. No layout verification or footer elevations were confirmed. I noted one step location that is indicated on the drawings as"2'-6 hold". Based on a survey mark (assumed exterior corner of wall) on the poured footer, it appears that the footer step needs to be moved north by 0'-9. This dimension is noted as critical due to the potential interference with the first floor joist. See the attached sketch for further clarification. I noted a few other minor items that needed to be modified prior to the pour. 1.) Any dirt clumps on the rebar or loose rebar in the forms needs to be removed prior to pouring. 2.) Due to an existing splice at the north footer step, it was not possible to expose 54" of rebar from the existing footer for splicing. The concrete contractor instead bent the horizontal bars from the lower footer up vertically. To make this modification work, each corresponding rebar from the lower footer to the upper footer needs to be tied in three locations along the splice. 3.) Minimum rebar clearance as the top horizontal bars go under the step form needs to be maintained. 4.) The contractor's changes to the rebar design in the lower step are acceptable. A Wacker ground heating machine is onsite and was operating at the time of my inspection. At the time of the inspection the outgoing line of the machine indicated a temperature of 173° and I physically noted the incoming line was also warm. The forms should be covered until concrete is onsite. Based on the forecasted high of 45 degrees for Friday's pour, I do not need to come verify the forms are at a minimum of 30 degrees.
