At your request Capstone Enterprises West observed the excavation of a third test pit at your 15 Native
Springs property. The purpose of this investigation was to determine if the winter weather had
impacted the strength of the soils in the foundation envelope.
Two samples of the subgrade soil were taken and tested in a Swell/Consolidation apparatus. The results
were then compared to the results from the original test taken from a test pit approximately 10 feet
away. Below is are the results from the initial test followed by the new test result on the following page.

There is a stark difference in the original versus the latest testing. The original sample consolidated
almost 1.5% under the 1,000 psf Toad. The new samples consolidate a maximum of 0.5%.
Based on this new information Capstone has revised the recommendation for your foundation pad as
shown on the following sketches.
