The primary route of exposure is ingestion, so treating your drinking water (bathroom and kitchen faucets, as well as your refrigerator if it has a drinking water spout) with RIO systems that remove arsenic would likely be sufficient to reduce the exposure to arsenic from the well water at the Quicksilver Court residences. Here is a statement from the Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs that is of note: Unless your arsenic level is over 500 ppb, showering, bathing and other household uses are safe. Arsenic is not absorbed through the skin and does not evaporate into the air. I also read a whitepaper by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Science, Research and Technology which cited a study on an Alaskan village with high arsenic groundwater levels, which showed minimal differences in arsenic levels in the body between the population that bathed in high arsenic water and those that did not. In conclusion, the current consensus of multiple health departments indicates that you do not need a whole house treatment for arsenic. Just for groundwater. Have a great weekend! •. I believe I only need the filtration on drinking water. Bathwood Bathroom and kitchen facets. Would you please confirm that with the EPA regs. Arsenic cannot penitrate the skin in showers. So that would mean an RO system under each sink would provide that protection. True or false ? Please.forward to Ted's office for me for approval. I think this gets us to where we need to be with regards to issuing a building permit, but we will also attach a condition calling for inspector verification of filtration system installation prior to final building inspection & Certificate of Occupancy. Thanks again & as noted before you should be getting a call from Lindsay on Friday morning about permit pick-up instructions. She and Andy will be in the office tomorrow, so if you want to plan on coming by tomorrow afternoon to pick up approved plans + permit that should work.
