For wastewater design purposes, the residence will contain 3 bedrooms and accommodate up to 6 residents. Therefore, the expected Daily Wastewater Design Capacity is 450 gallons. The Minimum required septic tank size is 1,000 gallons although a 1,250 gallon tank is recommended. The septic tank size requirements will be met by one 1,250-gallon concrete or HDPE tank. The tank will collect the influent from the residence. The septic tank will discharge by gravity to a distribution box. Effluent from the distribution box will flow by gravity to the soil treatment area located to the south of the residence. For design purposes, the soil percolation rate is based on the percolation tests cond ucted at the Johnson Property. The measured average soil percolation rate was determined to be 28.3 min/inch. Conservatively, a design soil percolation rate for soils with percolation rates between 41 to 60 min/inch will be used. Design Percolation Rate: 41-60 min/inch Design Long Term Acceptance Rate (LTAR): 0.35 gal/sq.ft./day The required Soil Treatment Area (STA) for a gravel type leach area is calculated using the following formula: STA = Design Flow / LTAR Therefore, STA = 450-gpd / 0.35 gal/sq.ft./day STA = 1,286-sq.ft. OWTS regulations allow a maximum reduction of 30% of the required soil treatment area for a gavelless type design in a Trench configuration. The proposed system will be a Chambered system in a Trench configuration. Therefore, the required Soil Treatment Area = 1,286 sq.ft. x 0.7 = 900 sq.ft. Required number of standard Quick 4+ Infiltrator Units = 900 sq.ft. / 1133 sq.ftjunit = 80 units Conservatively, the system system size will be increased by 20% to 96 Standard Quick 4+ Infiltrator Units. There shall be 6 Trenches with each being 16 units long for uniformity for a total of 96 units. Minimum Horizontal Setbacks: Min. Setback from Welts: Min. Setback from Creek and Ditch: Min. Setback from Property Lines: 100 ft 50ft 10ft The above designed OWTS shall be installed to satisfy all minimum setbacks and design standards as described by Garfield County and Colorado State regulations and will be installed according to all manufacturers specifications and recommendations. 4" PVC Inspection Ports (typ) at end of each row. Protect with Irrigation Valve Box. 4" Notch to be cut in Infiltrator and secured with screws. Use a cap or threaded plug to seal each port. Finished Grade \\...____ Backfill with Excavated Soils (See Infiltrator installation instructions) Quick4+ Infiltrator Units, Trench configuration f) g) h) 6) a) b) c) d) e) f) NOTES: 1) General a) Engineered system requires Engineer's approval on all constructed items. b) Contractor shall notify engineer of construction progress so that engineer may schedule inspections accordingly. c) No back fill will occur on constructed items prior to engineer's inspection and approval. d) Engineer shall be notified when soil treatment area is under excavation e) Contractor shall reclaim all disturbed areas to pre existing conditions. f) For areas where vegetation is disturbed, contractor shall reseed with NRCS approved seed mixture or as approved by owner. g) Grading shall be accomplished such that roof drains, foundation drains, area drains or cistern overflows shall not enter the septic tank or any part of the wastewater treatment system. h) Contractor responsible for locating water lines, wastewater lines, irrigation lines and other utilities that may or may not be shown. 3) Soil Treatment Area a) Orientation can be adjusted to match ground contours as long as setbacks shown on plan view are met. b) Alternative configurations of number of rows and length can be constructed as long as setbacks are maintained, total area is not reduced, and proposed layout is provided to engineer for prior approval. c) The final cover over the trenches shall be graded to deflect run-off water away from the soil treatment area. 4) Distribution Box a) Contractor may use a single distribution box as shown on plan or multiple boxes may be used with sketch plan to be provided to engineer for prior approval. b) Location of distribution box(es) and pipeline route to each trench may be field adjusted. c) Distribution box(es) shall be constructed with the inlet invert at least 1 inch above the level of the outlet inverts. 5) Pipelines a) The contractor may use a 6" PVC alternate, minimum slope would be 1%. b) The pipeline alignment may be field adjusted to avoid existing infrastructure and utilities as long as minimum slope and minimum bury depths are maintained. c) The sewer line shall have a minimum offset distance of 10-feet from any water line. d) At water line crossings, the sewer shall either be 18" below the water line or encased 10-feet each side in concrete or larger diameter pipe. Water line/sewer line separation encroachments must comply with CDPHE encasement requirements. e) Cleanouts per plumbing code. Double cleanout between buildings and septic tank may be removed if plumbing code allows use of interior building cleanout and access bends in the building sewer shall be limited to 45" ells or long sweep quarter bends. All plumbing fixtures, sewers, vents, and appurtenances shall comply with State and local plumbing codes. All pipe trenches shall be recompacted to 95% std density or as field approved by engineer. Sch. 40 PVC is required whenever the building sewer is located under a driveway. Alternatively, pipe to be bedded with material to be approved by engineer. Septic Tank The distance from the outlet invert to the tank cover shall be at least 12 inches. Liquid depth shall be a min. of 30 inches and the max. depth shall not exceed the tank length or 60 inches, whichever is less. The volume of the first compartment shall hold no less than 1/2 of the required effective capacity. The transfer of liquid from the first compartment to the second shall be made at a liquid depth of at least 14 inches below the outlet invert but not in the sludge zone. No enclosed structure shall be constructed over the septic tank. Tanks shall be inspected annual and pumped every 5-years, or as needed. 6 Trenches Each with 16 Quick 4+ Units. Minimum 6' Spacing Between Rows. Stub 4" SDR 35 Sewer Pipe into Infiltrator Unit and secure with screws. Install splash plate below inlet.
