HomeMy WebLinkAboutEngineer's Inspection Report 07.20.2020July 20, 2020 Rolf Hermanson 482 Canyon Creek Drive Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 Re: Deck Reconstruction In early June I inspected the ledger attached to the south side of the above residence. I understand in discussions with the Building Official, the integrity and attachment was questioned. At that time, I inspected the ledger, and found no noticeable rot or other defect that would make it unfit for its intended use. I did observe that the ledger was attached with nails of unknown size and spacing. Based on the fact that the ledger needs to support the north end of the joists, I recommended that (2) Simpson Ledger Lock screws at least 5" in length be installed between each joist, or 16" on center. On July 9 I re -inspected the ledger and observed that the recommended type and size of screws had been installed, and that the ledger can now successfully support the deck loading as required by the International Building Code. Any questions, please call me at (303) 870-5432. Sincerely, r William B. Swigeft, PE S •
