Miles Rippy Construction installed the system. The OWTS was sized to accommodate 525 gallons per day (GPD). Development on the property consists of two buildings with commercial office businesses and a one -bedroom apartment in the upper level of the southern -most office. The subject OWTS serves a portion of the development. We recommend tracking water use to better identify actual wastewater flow. The existing septic tank was abandoned by pumping the tank, crushing the bottom, top, and sides of the septic tank, and filling the remaining void space. The existing seepage pit was also abandoned by pumping and filling the remaining void space. A new, 1500-gallon, two -compartment concrete septic tank with an H-20 rated lid and cast iron manhole lids were installed. An Orenco® Biotube Effluent Filter must be installed on the outlet tee. This filter must be cleaned annually, or as needed. Excavation for the new seepage pit was 14-feet long, 14-feet wide, and a minimum of 10-feet deep below the inlet pipe. The bottom of the excavation was filled with 6-inches of 3/4-inch diameter cleaned screened rock. Four -foot diameter perforated manhole rings were stacked in the center of the excavation. Manhole rings were surrounded by 3/4-inch diameter cleaned screened rock, compacted in 2- foot lifts with a vibratory plate compactor. Cast iron extensions and cast iron lids were utilized to bring the manhole rings of the seepage pit to grade for access. The OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. This observation is not a guarantee of workmanship and/or parts and materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are made to the OWTS in the future. Any additional OWTS construction must be according to the county regulations. LIMITS: Observations are limited to components that are visible at the time of the inspection. The installer must have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working. The quality of the installation is dependent of the expertise of the installer, soil type, and weather conditions. Please call with questions. At the time of our site visit, the contractor had installed a 1,500-gallon two compartment concrete septic tank, the new sewer line, and the new drywell. The tank and drywell rings were installed level, with access brought to grade. The contractor was backfilling the excavation around the drywell with washed gravel while we were on site. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit. Please provide an As -Built drawing of the system, when available, for our files. Don't: • Pour cooking grease or oil down the sink or toilet. • Rinse coffee grounds into the sink. • Pour household chemicals down the sink or flush them. Do: • Eliminate or limit the use of a garbage disposal. • Properly dispose of coffee grounds a food. • Put grease in a container to harden before discarding in the trash. Don't: • Flush non -degradable products or chemicals, such as feminine hygiene products, condoms, dental floss, diapers, cigarette butts, cat litter, paper towels, pharmaceuticals. Do: • Dispose of these items in the trash can! Don't: • Park or drive on your drainfield. The weight can damage the drain lines. • Plant trees or shrubs too close to your drainfield, roots can grow into your system and clog it. Do: • Consult a septic service professional to advise you of the proper distance for planting trees and shrubs, depending on your septic tank location. Don't • Concentrate your water use by using your dishwasher, shower, washing machine, and toilet at the same time. All that extra water can really strain your septic system. Do: • Stagger the use of water -generating appliances. This can be helpful especially if your system has not been pumped in a long time. • Become more water efficient by fixing plumbing leaks and consider installing bathroom and kitchen faucet aerators and water -efficient products.
