I understand that we are foregoing the submission of a preliminary soils investigation report by a geotechnical engineer and that an open hole soils report shall be prepared and made available to the county building inspector at time of the scheduled footing inspection. Any analysis that results in changes to the foundation design will be submitted to the building departrnent prior to required inspections. The structural engineer is good with this method and so is the owner (l can have each write a letter). Can we proceed in this manner? I will obviously am l-00% vested in having the proper bearing capacity, drainage, etc. for the project but want to proceed ín a logical, streamlined manner. lt has the exact same outcome and Kumar us 3 months out on digging test pits and analysis at this point. None was found in the file folder. There is a zoning plat note that requires submission of a geotechnical engineers report prior to issuance of the building permit. l'll need to review this report before releasing plans. ln event, the property owners have an electronic version of theír geotechnical report on hand, I have cc: the owners in thís correspondence as well.
