Re: Blatz Mezzanine -BLCO-09-20-6189
Dear Colleen,
Summit AE (SAE) designed the metal building fouudation for this project back iu August of 2020. We
issued a plan revision regarding the fum dor.m concrete edge rvidth on l2ll8l20. The incltlsion of a
ntezzatine and exterior shed roof lvere not considered in this foundation design.
SAE u'as contacted in March of this year to revierv a field 'Sketchnp' progress plan set for a
tnezzaninelshed roof addition to this building. The proposed stnrctural framing members r,vhere'i,erified
code cornpliant rvith the 2015 IBC Chapter l6 - Stnrctural Design. SAE interaction with the orvner's field
staff continued thru 617 l2l.
This engineer perfonned an on-site progress inspection on 4lIl2I to address structural framing
questions concerning the integriry*, anchoring & foundation for the tnezzanirelshed roof. The mezzaniue
structural framing components were per the plans revierved. Partition framing has been reinforced rvith
additional studs in areas where other trades had cornpromised them. Photos of foundation modifications
to sgpport the mezzanine tvere revierved and determined to be adequate. Modifications (door opening and
misc. bracing) to the building tretal franiug were done in an approved manner, maintaining building
integri¡.'. The shed roof constmction progress w¿rs also reviewed during the site visit. The finished shed
roofis nog'stnrcturally code cornpliant and adequate for the applicatiou.
The ongoing photo documentation has confirmed to SAE the construction is adequate and appror,ed.
Please contact this office ifyou have questions.
Respectfully,
Keith Mendenhall,
Summit AE
