I would recommend option 2, especially with the age of the OWTS. That septic tank size (1,250-gallon) would be appropriate for " O-O"6rol)m residence, while the '1,00O-gallon would be appropriate for a 3-bedroom. lf the original home (with anunfinished basement) had 3-bedrooms, and the remodel is expanding the home to have 4-bedrooms, the tank would be the correct size, but l'm notsure about the Soil Treatment Area (STA, or leach field). ln general, when a home remodel is taking place that increases the number of bedrooms,we (Public Health) would require a Remodel OWTS permit ($75 fee) that would require an inspection of the system to ensure that the OWTS islarge enough to handle the new bedroom(s), and that the OWTS is in good working order. However, I do not see a reason to hold up the buildingpermit for decks and finishing the basement while they get the OWTS inspected, with the CONDITION OF APPROVAL that you suggested. Werequire the inspection to be performed by ¡¡ National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) certified inspector or an engineer. Pleasecontact us with questions, or if we can be of further assistance. Thank you again for looping us in on this project!COLLEEN WIRTH, PLANS EXAMINER, redline CONDITION OF PERMIT on the buílding permit FIELD COPY to state:Septic System Review / ApprovalsHealth Department.Prior to fírral building ínspectíon & certificate of occupancy províde final approval / sign-off from Garfield County's PublicColleen WirthPlans ExaminerGarfield County Buílding Division108 8th Street, Suite 401Glenwood Springs, CO 81601cwi rth @ ga rf i el d -cou ntv. comoffice (970) 945-1377 ext. 16102
