No Name, Garfield County, CO.
As the structural engineer of record, our office issued construction documents
on Sept. 18,2021, and issued updated documents on Nov. 18,2021.
The purpose of this memo is to address three (3) variations in the framing.
1. The addition includes an extension of the crawl space as shown in Detail B/S2.
The ledger as installed was not in accordance with the structural drawings. At this time
a pressure treated 2 x 4 stud wall (2 x4's @ 16" on center) has been installed to support
the ledger. This wall is structurally acceptable.
2. At the south wall of the addition there is a 7 foot wide garage door opening adjacent
to a 5 foot wide window. Based upon my recommendation, HH-6 header hangers have
been installed. The installed, built up suppoft post at that location now consists of
(3)-2x 6 king studswith a2x6jack stud withheaderhanger each side. This is
structurally acceptabl e.
3. Also at the south wall of the addition there is a 6 foot wide sliding glass door. For the
proposed transom window above the slider a (3) - 2 x 8 header is structurally acceptable.
