Sorry for the confusion, I am getting job sites and building designs mixed up in my head. When I went to your office copy, I was able to recall you have the full height walk out basement and basement storage design features (and not a crawler). I was striving to add some supplemental red line stamps and details on your plan set, as the insulation references are fairly minimum in plan drawings. The Architect was good to reference our general plan attachment and notations to the 2009 IECC, Chapter 4, Table 402.1.L. I did revisít that IECC published table and the varied "footnotes" referencing minimum requíred insulation for (Garfíeld County) Climate Zone 5, Basement Wall R-value l¡sts "l-0/L3" and footnote "c". Footnote "c" is helpful in that it reads "lOf L3" means R-10 continuous insulated sheathing on the interior or exterior of the home or "R-!3" cavity insulation at the interior of the basement wall. Hard to understand without benefit of the verbíage in the footnote. Your hired Architect of Record does play a role in the design and intended performance of the building thermal envelope - it's our intent the building satisfy minimum code requirements for Climate Zone 5 at time of insulation inspection - should you and your general contractor wish to engage in a dialogue with the Architect on the selected insulation assembly or wish to consider an alternate assembly, please do so' lf the insulation is wholly on the exterior it should be flashed to protect from sunlight, íntrusion of pests and the like. And not a bad idea to take digital photos of any installed exteríor insulation sheathing before i(s conceoled (and have some sample product materials and insulation manufacturer's R-Value specifications on hand for the building inspector to see at frame and insulation inspection). That will allow the building inspector to have ready access to your insulation details duríng construction. Hope this helps, have a good evening!
