Subjeet: Thickened Slab Foundation Sections, Proposed Residense, Lot 37, Filing 6,
Elk Springs, ûû31 Wsodruff Fiace, Garfield County, Cotrorado
Gentlernen:
As requested by Jeff Peterson, we have reviewed the information developed for our previous
subsoil study at the subject site, report dated April 8,2021, Froject No. 21-7-214 for proposed
use of thickened slab sections to support interior building loads.
The subsoils ensountered at the site below the tcpsoil, mainly consist of,very stiff to hard, highly
calcareous silt with basalt rock fragments which are eonsidered good bearing for lightly loaded
foundations with low settlernent potential. A thickened slab scetion placed directly on these soils
or highly eornpaetod skulctural fill sueh as road basc can be used to support interior building
loads with an allowable bearing pressure of 2,500 psf. ,{ppropriate longituidinal and ü'ansverse
reinforcement st¡ould be used to trimit the effeets of potential differential settlement between the
thickened section and normal slab-cn-grade areas. ûther recommendations presented in our
previor.ls repart whieh are applieable should also be obsorved.
