The floor framing system above is currently exposed. The main residence 'stacks' above a crawl space and the unfinished basement/proposecì ADij. So, yes, we have a verticai separation wiih 2 iayers of 5/8" type X sheetrock ihroughout on the ADU ceilíng. The only horizontal separatÍon would be between the ADU and mechanical room area. There is a door that will be a 'locl< off' situation ancl I assume this would have to be a rated door, similar to a garage separation, along with 5f8" type X sheetrock on each side of this wall. Mr. Clausen's son, daughter-ín-law and child will be livíng in the basement/ADU. Are you províding a vertical fire separation only? Or and vertical and horizontal fire separations separating the ADU ín the converted basement from the existing living space above it? l'm only seeing the lower level and cannot see the existing dwelling assembly and floor plan layout ín story over the ADU. There are no penetrations in the floor system wíth mechanical (heating), as the area is heated with radiant heat that already exísts. The lighting at the ceilingfloor above would comply with the detaíl indícated Ín your pdf, as there are not any floor outlets/electrical penetrations in the floor above. There isn't an attic space to consider, as the ADU is completely under a portion of the existing residence. J My detail also indicates a layer of 5/8" type X sheetrock on each side of the common wall between the ADU and the mechanical room. lf we need to provide 2 layers of this sheetrock on the interior side of the ADU, I can modify the detail accordingly.
