THE FOLLOWING WAS OBSERVED:
Our office is the structural engineer of record for the noæd single family residence. As such we
issued construction documents dated 01/18 /2022. The small, single story addition is au¿ched to the south
end of the exising structure, and is intended to provide additional kitchen storage spacs. The addition
measures, in plan, approximately 8'-0" north-south by 16'-0" east-west. The addition was designed with
three (3) Bigfoot footings and piers placed beneath the south wall of the addition. The Bigfoot footings
mimic the foundation system at the eústing south wall of the rest¿urant. The existing south end of the
restâtrrant is a previous addition which measures, in plaq approximaæly l0'-0" north*south by 24'-0"
east- west. The addition is framed as a post and beam structure utilizing heavy timber posts and beams
installedonan I footmodule. Thebeamsystemincludes 4 x I and 6x I timberfloorbeams whichspan
between individual Bigfoot footings and piers, and I x 8 timber roof beams.
The purpose of this site observation was tô observe compleæd framing prior to insøllation of
insulation. Heavy timber post and beam framing, in-fill wood stud wall framing, roof râfters and floor
joists v''ere all inst¿lled at this time. The framing had been inst¿lled in accordance with the structural
documents. At ttre time of my inspection floor sheathing had been installed so tlrat I was not able to
observe the floor joists. The floor frarning is a closed system \Mth23/32" tongue and groove plywood over
2 x 8 pressure treaæd floor joists over 7116" pressure treated plywood soffit. I observed photos of the floor
framing prior to installation of the floor sheathing and the floor insulation. I also observed photos of the
Bigfoot excavations and formwork that were taksn prior to the placement of the foundation concrete.
ln conclusion, the Bigfoot footings of the addition have been installed in accorda¡rce with the
structural construction documents, and the addition has been framed in a professional manner, and in
accordance with the structural documents.
