The findings of our observations and recommendations for the foundation design are presented in this report. We previously conducted a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site and presented our findings in a report dated September 16, 2022, Project No. 22-7-477. The building foundation is designed to be placed on 3 feet of compacted structural fill with an allowable bearing pressure of 1,500 psf (modified for structural fill support to limit settlement potential). At the time of our visit to the site, the excavation was in progress and had been cut in one level about 4% to 5'h feet deep (including 3 feet of sub -excavation for structural fill). Placement of Class 6 road base was in progress in the southern part of the trench excavations. The natural soils exposed in the excavation consisted of sandy silt and clay. No free water was encountered and the soils were slightly moist. The soils exposed in the excavation are consistent with those previously encountered on the site and can be used for support of the building foundation placed on structural fill and designed for the recommended allowable bearing pressure of 1,500 ps£ Other recommendations presented in our previous report which are applicable should also be observed. The recommendations submitted in this letter are based on our observation of the soils exposed within the foundation excavation and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variations in the subsurface conditions below the excavation could increase the risk of foundation movement. We should be advised of any variations encountered in the excavation conditions for possible changes to recommendations contained in this letter.
