Subject: Additional Observation of Excavation, Proposed Residence, Lot SD-14, Aspen
Glen, 151 Sundance Trail, Garfield County, Colorado
Dear Mike:
As requested, a representative of Kumar & Associates, Inc. observed shallow pit excavations at
the subject site on July 15, 2022 for existing fill depth and condition to support the design
footings. We previously provided a summary of the excavation conditions for foundation
support in a report dated July 13, 2022, Project No. 21-7-902.01.
At the time of our current visit to the site, two pits were dug adjacent the building excavation to a
depth of about 31/2 feet below the adjacent ground surface where natural dense, gravel and cobble
soils were encountered. The fill soils appeared relatively dense including an asphalt and base
course layer. No free water was encountered in the excavation and the soils were slightly moist.
The soil conditions exposed in the pit excavations are consistent with those previously
encountered and observed at the site and suitable for support of spread footings designed for the
recommended allowable bearing pressure of 3,000 psf. Other recommendations presented in our
previous report which are applicable should also be observed.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
Sincerely,
Kumar & Associates, Inc.
